Final Major Project 'Yumenosekai'

My final piece is ‘Yumenosekai(Dream World), which features Japanese Kawaii style. My final piece pays tribute to children’s imagination, which inspired me to design 3 posters and 9 sewn felt toys. The posters show three herbivore animals; giraffe, zebra and lama. The collection has been stimulated by my recent visit to a toyshop in Amsterdam and can function as a potential product design/branding approach for childrens merchandise.

I felt that I was successful in using colourful felt because I could make toys that matched the drawings, and they look and feel soft. Also, the felt is very safe for children, their parents do not need to worry about the children harming themselves with the toy. I made them to be toys, but also I wanted the children to use them after they have played with them, so I added the wool hook to the toys.

In terms of the three animal posters, the initial poster did not look professional because it had not been edited. That’s why it was better to make the poster by hand and then edit it using Photoshop. This also allowed me to improve my Photoshop skills.

I still need to learn a lot of things in terms of Indesign and Photoshop but thorough the final major project I could learn and develop a basis for me to improve my knowledge upon, for me, it was a very big advancement and growth.
