Oxford trip

Hello ;)

I chose ASHMOLEAN museum.
This time, I'd like to introduce Yoshida Hirohsi exhibition!

Yoshida born in Fukuoka in Japan.
In 1893 he went to Kyoto to study painting, and the following year to Tokyo to join Koyama Shotaro's Fudosha private school.

He is a famous Japanese print artist.
I think that his artwork has a lot of warmth and impressive colour.

That's why I could see his print for a log time.

I was attracted to this print named "Elephant".

It was made by woodblock print in 1931, and used ink and colour on paper.

Yoshida had seen riding on elephant in india, the experience was deep impression for him.
That's why he created this.

He preferred amber and ochre colour.

It looks dull colour, but quite beautiful.
This is calculate beauty.

And also he had a different view point from others about indian landscape and also delicate sensibility.

Please check it out his woodblock!!!
